<span lang="EN-GB" style="font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: 'Gentium Book Plus'; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; color: black; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;">The purpose of this study is to examine for the first time the formation, composition, and functioning of the houses of three unmarried princesses (infantas) of late fourteenth-century Spain; to consider the purposes of the houses and situate them within the complex galaxy of households belonging to kings and princes of the time; and, finally, to propose some subjects worthy of further investigation.

The Iberian Queen's Households: Dynamics, Social Strategies and Royal Power

This special issue, edited by Dr Diana Pelaz Flores features six insightful studies of the households of queens and&nbsp;infantas (or princesses) from the medieval kingdoms of Castile and Aragon between the thirteenth to the fifteenth centuries. These studies, along with the editor's introduction to the collection, illuminate the workings and significance of female royal households as a locus of power and influence and demonstrate various strategies of household administration, finance and governance.&nbsp;
